WINTER 2024 DATASET DESCRIPTION – GRDC WEED SCRIPTS PROJECT This dataset documents InFarm and Bayer CropScience’s Winter 2024 data collection across Australia for the GRDC Weed Scripts project. The project aims to support site-specific herbicide application in cereal cropping systems through drone-based weed detection and prescription mapping. DATA ACCESS AND STRUCTURE All survey data is organised in the folder structure: SURVEY_ID/DATE/GSD/[Orthomosaic, Annotations]. DATA OVERVIEW (1) Orthomosaics – high-resolution (nominal 1 cm GSD) georeferenced orthomosaic images captured using drones with RTK positioning. Orthomosaics are delivered as GeoTIFF files. (2) Human Annotations – broadleaf weeds manually annotated in selected image tiles. Annotations are provided in COCO JSON format. METHODS SUMMARY Aerial imagery was collected using RTK-enabled drones and processed into orthomosaics. Orthomosaics were cropped into tiles, and selected tiles were annotated with the location of broadleaf weeds using polygons. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS Surveys covered a range of wheat growth stages from early emergence to full canopy closure. All flights were conducted on rain-free days at various times of day. COORDINATE SYSTEM All spatial data is stored in EPSG:4326 (WGS84). ACCESS CONDITIONS This dataset is classified as Restricted Access under GRDC’s data management policy (C-3.1.3). It is not publicly available. Third parties must request access from the data owners and, if approved, will be required to enter into a licence agreement. Access is restricted due to the commercial sensitivity of the data and its use in ongoing model development and product commercialisation.
