Definition
This six trial site series explores the control of prominant grass weeds (annual ryegrass and brome grass) in oat crops sown for grain in Western Australia during the 2024 season. The trials explore chemical and non-chemical options for weed control.
Herbicide options for the control of annual ryegrass in oats (Highbury WA)
Herbicide options for the control of brome grass in oats (Highbury WA)
Crop competition against annual reygrass from wheat vs oats under various herbicide regimes (Dumbleyung WA)
Crop competition of oats at three different seeding rates under various herbicide regimes on annual ryegrass (Katanning WA)
Crop competion from seeding rate and seeding depth under two different ryegrass burdens (+/- Herbicide) (Highbury WA)
Nitrogen placement and crop competition impact on annual ryegrass (Highbury WA)
This file contains raw, data, statistical outputs and reports from the above trials. Trials were randomised and replicated and recorded, plant estalishement, weed control, panicle number, grain yield and grain quality aspects important to oat grading (hectolire weight and screenings). Sown safeguard ryegrass was used at Trials 1,5 and 6 as this was part of a larger oat site that had trials which didn't have a background ryegrass burden. Trials 2,3 and 4 were targeting naturally occuring ryegrass burdens.
